Description
Participants can come with custom measurements for a table top – side table, coffee table or small desk. We’ll cover wood selection, preparation and joinery techniques, with both instruction and hand-on practice. Safe finishing options will be discussed that can be applied at home. An overview of popular leg and base options in different price ranges will be provided. We’ll explore the back story of the woods and their journey from the ancient forest, to a 19th c.New York City building and its transformation today.
Material: Material fee is based on the dimensions of the table top being planned. We’ll be working with Northeast softwoods and participants can choose whether to utilise an original, skip-planed or re-surfaced boards. 6/4 x 12. Price: 15.00 per linear foot.
Instructor: William Ryder is a cabinet maker with a 30 year roster of custom built woodwork in Brooklyn. Alan Solomon is a partner at Sawkill Lumber and co-author of the upcoming Reclaimed Wood: A Field Guide
