Aged brown board is milled from native softwoods – primarily antique grade Eastern Hemlock and Spruce. The most local woods that can be found, they once grew in the dense old growth forests of the Northeast U.S. The pale, dense grained softwood was an ideal light weight structural lumber. A century later, it re-emerges through the demolition process as a rustic and warm paneling or flooring.

Aged Brown hues are most characteristic of this wood. It can be highly textured on it’s aged surface, with occasional saw marks, nail holes and stress marks. An applied wax or oil will deepen the brown color, reveal some of the surface texture – such as the saw marks, and make the woods smoother to the touch.
