Recovered from large agricultural crating, Cargo Oak develops an aged patina from years of service, from rail yards to the open seas. The woods that emerge from recovery have consistent moderate widths (5-6″) and lengths (8-10′), with the durability expected from the American hardwood. The wood carries a more modern day provenance, and is flexible within the context of projects seeking a rustic or more refined reclaimed aesthetic.

The woods project a balanced and natural grey-brown scale, as if they’ve been aged in consideration of a future within a design project. The surface retains characteristic circular saw marks from modern precision blades, along with a rhythm of occasional nail holes that almost as an afterthought, signal it’s reclaimed heritage. The color and surface features provide a dynamic surface and neutral color tones that can serve a range of design aesthetics.
