Beech is largely sourced from dismantled barn structures. Growing to wide girth and relatively common across the Eastern U.S., it entered into the mixed hardwoods and softwoods found within agricultural structures. It is among the hardwood choices for flooring, sometimes mixed with maple with a similar light tan and closed grain structure. But its natural, aged and marks of its use have increased its use for decorative paneling and furnishings.
